Model Features
  • Zoom
    Purge Pump Primer
The purge pump primer feature enables the user to prime the carburetor with fuel, enabling easier starting. The purge pump primer is designed in a way that the operator cannot flood the machine by priming the carburetor too many times. Flooding the engine is still possible if the choke is not removed after the engine fires.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product has disappointed me since purchase. I bought the BG50 about a month ago. It had problems from the onset and would not start without me working up a sweat. I followed the starting instructions exactly as one should. It took lots of effort to get it started and once it was started, it would lull down when pressing the throttle... even after warming up. After a week or two, I returned it to the dealer who said this model has had carburetor issues. Wish they would have told me that when I bought it. They changed out the carburetor for me and I was happy again. Ohh but wait, Now it starts as it should but sputters and cuts out at full throttle. I really want a refund and then permission to throw this "superior performance" bull in the river. Despite being a Stihl believer for many years, I would not recommend this model to anyone as I have been truly dissatisfied from the beginning.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very touchy engine to start The overall fit and finish is excellent. The power of the blower is very good and moves most debris with ease. It's well balanced in the hand is fairly light, so using it for an extended period of time is easy. The overall starting ability of this engine is extremely poor and has real issues starting both cold and warm. Must use a half choke even after it's been warmed up sometimes and then it may take multiple tries.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to Start I purchased the blower after I purchased my Stijl weedeater which I love. However the blower is hard to start and once it is started if you give it gas the engine will die. I have found that if you let it run without use for 15 minutes it will run fine, but if you turn it off you have to go through all the steps above all over again. It is to bad the engine does not run like my weed eater . Overall if I had to purchase a blower again I would buy a different model. Jerry in Florida

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BG 50 does not meet expectations Very difficult to start. When engine it does start, it is very difficult for engine to "rev-up." At first start, engine will only run idle speed; if you try to "rev-up" engine with full throttle, the engine stops. I took the BG 50 back to Dealer for repair. But Dealer said that this was typical for this model blower; very disappointing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great blower, but very hard to start. Once you start the blower after around 20 tries it is a great blower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Blower for everyday Use Had a BG55, Older unit and it still runs well. About the same blow power on this BG 50. Lighter weight and seems to move junk on the ground and roofs well. Would have liked a "stay on" switch. Noise level seems great.
